Distinctive Pentecostal Beliefs
The Church of God stands firmly within the tradition of the primitive church, emphasizing the work of the Holy Spirit, the authority of Scripture, and personal salvation through Jesus Christ.
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience from conversion, empowering believers for service and witness. The gifts of the Spirit continue to operate in the Church today for edification and ministry.
Scriptural Basis: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses..." - Acts 1:8
Authority of Scripture
The Bible is our final authority in matters of faith and practice. We hold to the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture as God's revealed Word to humanity.
Salvation through Christ Alone
We affirm that salvation is found only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross. This salvation is by grace through faith, not by works.
Ordinances of the Church
We practice two ordinances: Water Baptism by immersion for believers, and Holy Communion as a memorial of Christ's sacrifice.
Sanctification and Holy Living
We believe in the ongoing work of sanctification, where believers are progressively transformed into Christ's image through the Holy Spirit's work.
